2025 and Ready to Thrive
And just like that 2024 is over. I feel like I was just writing this post last year. And yet here I am again writing the year end wrap up.
Similar to last year, this year took a turn I wasn’t expecting. It wasn’t bad but it wasn’t the best year either. With that let’s see what things I accomplished.
What did I want to accomplish in 2024?
This year, I wanted to sit back and relax more than in previous years, but that didn't mean I got to cut back on writing.
Celebrated 4 Years of the blog- Last month celebrated the fourth year of the blog. Originally the website was created to promote my children’s book I published back in January of 2021 with hopes to post every once in a while to show the site was active. Well here we are four years later still going strong with over 150 posts!
Blogging- Two years ago I made the choice to batch write the posts. This means having posts written months prior to when they go live. In doing so I can knock out the posts on a timely manner while still publishing great content on a biweekly based. My stress levels have reduced so much in changing how the blog is run as well as focus on other projects.
New Ideas- I came up with 3 new story ideas of which I have outlined so I don’t forget what they are about. The stories are fun projects I believe would do well if traditionally published.
Novel- Back in 2022 I came up with a short story idea which somehow turned into a trilogy series. I’ve slowly and surely been working on it with scene work as well as reading other books to help me in my writing journey. I still have a long ways to go but I know my characters and I think that’s a great start.
Besides items relating to writing, here are some other things I accomplished this year!
Traveling- I always try to go somewhere new each year, and this year my friend and I went to New Orleans for my 33rd birthday. We spent a week there walking through the French Quarter, checking out the cemeteries, riding an air boat through the bayou, and seeing Taylor Swift in the Eras Tour.
Books-Similarly to last year, I decided to set a reading goal of 50 books. Well I crushed that with a total of 56. My top picks for the year go to Animal Farm and Educated.
Bucket list - Every year I try and mark at least three items off my bucket list. This year I marked off going apple picking, riding a trolley, air boat ride, traveling somewhere new, buying and fixing up a Kei truck.
These are some of the highlights from the year as not all could make the list.
What about 2025?
Now that we've looked back on this year, we also get to look ahead to 2025. Let's start with writing goals!
The Blog Schedule- As always the schedule will remain the same with biweekly posts going live on Mondays at 9 a.m.
A Novel- Finish my novel. I keep saying it but I truly want to spend time getting it done and working on some new fresh ideas.
Querying- Like I also mentioned last year, I would love to begin the query process of getting my book published traditionally. I think it will be an interesting experience once I start.
There are many writing goals this coming year, but the time I need to put into each one is much greater than last year. Here's a list of some other writing goals I will also keep in mind.
Finish a Series
Stand Alone Children's Book
How To eBook
Short Story Magazine or Website
My theme for the year is 2025 and Ready to Thrive. I definitely feel an energy I haven’t before when it comes to my goals. I purchased a Kindle Scribe to help with my writing(which it has done immensely so far).
For my vision board, I used one of the notebook settings in the Kindle Scribe to draw my vision instead of putting together a physical board compared to past years. I felt like it stayed on theme and will make me use the kindle more often.
Coming and Going on the Blog
We aren't done talking about writing yet! Usually each year I switch things up when it comes to post series but moving forward I'm sticking with some classics including more short stories(I’m super excited with what I came up with so far), book reviews, and more guest posts. Some series have been revamped so get ready to see those as well.
Final Thoughts
I can already tell 2025 is going to be a great year. The energy that is flowing along with some fun projects ahead that I can’t wait to share. See you next year with new and exciting things!
